We are filling feeders twice a day now, and I know they are getting ready to head out. At times all feeders are full and birds are waiting their turn. I sure hate to see them leave. They are such a joy to watch.

Loaded feeder, through the screen.

How'd you get that bird to sit still for a photo?
Love hummingbirds - they are so fun to watch.

They have fed at the feeders all summer and a lot of them don't bother to fly away anymore when we walk past the door. I did stand still for a minute and he landed and stayed. When we go out to bring the feeders in to refill, they buzz our heads waiting for us to hang them back up. They are so beautiful.

I hear you about filling up the feeders constantly! I have 2 feeders and have about 7-10 birds (probably more) buzzing about. They are the funniest things! Sugar water is liquid crack to them!

I thought I had a lot of hummingbirds when they were going through a half gallon a week! Guess not by your standards! I stop feeding them on Labor Day so they go where they are supposed to go. There is no way I'd keep food from freezing in the winter.

We don't stop feeding them until they are all gone. They will not stay around past their time to head out. They do not stay until it gets cold.

SAME HERE. We keep food out until we no longer see birds.
They know when to head south.
