I have both the 1/4" Janome that came with the machine (I have a humble 3160QDC) whihc I didn't like becuase it was flayed a bit at the toe and would not do a proper 1/4". I bought the multi-part foot what has the 1/4" flange, plus the stitch-in-ditch flange.
the 1/4: flange works great, sits right up against the plastic foot. I do a measuring test for each new fabric/thread and adjust the needle position if necessary.
Maybe the foot that came with your machine had a bent flange.

Good luck

I really like the 1/4" foot with the flange. My daughter tried is and exclaimed that now even she could have good 1/4" seams. It's a good thing there are different feet for different people!

Have a Kenmore with piece on side of the 1/4" foot..love it. My FW also has the piece. My Mom on the other hand has a Bernina and does not have the piece, and she loves her setup. I think it's all in what we get used to and trained on. JMHO

I have a Janome and use their 1/4" foot all the time. I found it works better for me!!! Most things are good for some people and not good for others. For the life of me, I can't use the "walking foot"!!!!!

I use my 1/4" foot all the time. On my 11000 I adjust my needle to 4.1 and get a good seam. I also have another Janome (can't think of the number) that I use to go to class. On that one I have to adjust the needle to 5.0.

So it's a matter of trial and error to find the right spot!! I sewed a couple of 2 1/2" strips together at different settings until I got the one that came out exact. Ann

I love my Janome 1/4 inch foot.I consider it to be one of the best investments in quilting supplies I have.

This is what I use on my Janome Memorycraft 3000 & it works great. It's called a "Little Foot". Prices vary, so shop around for one! I have had mine for years & use it all the time!

[quote=Christine27]I like my 1/4 foot, especially the Acufeed one, on the 6600P, but I always have to adjust the needle position, or it's a VERY generous 1/4 inch. I'm still having fun learning about my machine and all the little gadgets and feet.

Yes, you do need to adjust your needle when using the acufeed foot. If you still have the packaging that came with the foot, it tells you to move your needle to 5.5, then it lines up perfectly for a 1/4".

I used the clear one with the red lines when using my Singer but my Janome MC4800 has a 1/4 inch foot with the metal on the side. i love it myself.

I have never had one with an adjustable bar. That may work even better than my current 1/4" foot.
