I just added decorative stitching where the blocks were sewn together for more stregnth.

Ok to answer your questions, I watched this video https://www.baysidequilting.com/stor...idCategory=284
and did exactly what it said, except I measured the batting (I used warm & white) 8-1/2 X 8-1/2 and my backing fabric 10-1/2 X 10-1/2 and flip and stitched the fabrics. I stitched right on the batting, I did not use any muslin. I joined them together leaving 1/8" between the batting and seam. In other words, I did not sew on the 2 layers of batting when connecting them.
Surprisingly it lays perfectly flat too!
I used these template and enlarged them to 8-1/2 X 8-1/2 http://www.nmia.com/%7Emgdesign/qor/...y/crzayqlt.htm
LOVE the QAYG (quilt as you go) method and best of all, I don't have to go back and quilt it afterwards!!
sandpat, my brain doesn't do scrappy either so I am VERY SURPRISED I like this!
