The color changes are controlled by our browsing software, not by the board software.
that means if your colors are not changing, it has something to do with your browser - possibly any custom setting you've chosen for it.
there are a few things you can try.
1. i recommend you upgrade to the newest version of your favorite browser that can be used with your operating system.
2. you might also try clearing your cache/delete temporary internet files for a fresh start.

So much nicer!! 
For those who's colors go back to being as 'unread', I {think} it might have to do with with signing out and back in again. I've noticed that if I become logged out, I've lost the color changes. I'm trying to make sure my 'keep me logged in' (or whatever it's called) box is checked.
