What to do with finished quilt tops until ready to quilt them?

I sort of do the same thing. I don't have a lot of fabric just hanging around like my quilt group does. Wish I did. But what's funny right now...Is I'm going w/ some of my quilting girls to a fabric store tomorrow and I have NO IDEA what I'm gonna buy and why. I do LOVE Batiks!!!

I hang mine on plastic hangers in the closet. I put any leftover material and the backing in a walmart plastic bag and hang it over the hanger. That way if I need any of the material it hasn't been used somewhere else. something that's easy to do.

I measure the top, make the backing and attach a note with that information to the quilt top, fold it and put in one particular cabinet I have for completed tops. When I get ready to start quilting, I go to that cabinet and all are marked with size so I know what size batting to cut, the backs are already made so I can't use the excuse I don't feel like doing something - everything is ready.

I have a cousin who simply spreads them on a guest room bed -- she has FORTY TWO of 'em on that bed! They stay uncreased that way, of course, but wow. (I asked her if she'd ever checked to see if any long-ago guest was crushed underneath...)

The picture of the quilts on the heavy plastic hangers is what my sewing room closet looks like. I use the hangers for larger pieces of fabric that have been washed & ironed as well as for finished quilts. I put scrap pieces of batting over the hangers under the quilts & occassionaly change the location of the folds in the quilts. A bed sheet draped over the closet rod, hangers, & fabric/quilts protects them from dust, etc.
