Gal, A great idea. I think I'll get a lavender plant and try using it for my fabrics. Thanks for the tip. I've never been to New Zealand. Would you be able to Post some pictures of your surroundings? Eiltcoq.

Sherri and ladies hello! I never had thought about using spray starch. It's a great idea. i am new to quilting and have a lot to learn. I have not yet had the nerve to cut my cloth I got for a quilt. But I will jump in b/4 long. Just call me chicken. I read a lot of your ladies remarks and learn from them thanks.

I also use Sta-flo and mix my own. I pre-wash all my fabric because it bothers my hands if I don't. I do not starch my fabric before storing it, but do before I cut my pieces, and (lightly) each time I press seams. Bias edges get extra starch, just in case. I love the crinkled look washed quilts have, so almost always wash my quilts before giving them away.

My vote is for Sta Flo, I use it full strength and 50/50
    2 different spray bottles.

Niagara works great, about a quarter of price of Mary Ellen's, for a 22 oz. bottle. I do find the 'fresh linen' scent a little too strong.

Wow, GrammyP, I too, wash fabrics before working with them because if I don't, it also bothers my finger tips. You are the only other person I have heard say the same thing. Guess I am not weird, huh? Thanks for sharing.
