What a wonderful gesture. He probably has no idea how impressive and useful this basket is. I would get him some lottery tickets where he can take a chance on getting something back for himself. I wish him luck.

So many GREAT ideas! Thanks everyone!

I thought about the bag. One of the magazines has purses and bags. Last year I made his daughter a cute "cheater" quilt when I found out she was going in for surgery. (She is 5) That is how he remembered that I quilt.

Have to ROFL to all of you who said I should cook something. It's the knee slapping kind of laugh! NOT one of my talents! And everyone in my family will confirm that.

I am not sure if he drinks. I do know he cooks so maybe something there. He is also an avid reader, so I liked the bookstore idea. I'm not in a hurry~something will seem right sometime.

Wow, what a great surprise. Great haul. See if there is something he needs for bowling.

If you do machine embrod. perhaps you could put names on shirts for next years bowling team., or maybe embrod. some hand towels for him to use when bowling. When I was young and on a Bowling team, we always had our own towels, to wipe presp. from hands and wipe down our bowling balls. Maybe that and a Pizza, sounds great. I play the lottery, but the chances are pretty slim that he might win. Food or gift cert. or something, will be something that would be useful. Good friend, and it looks like you have some real goodies there. Congrats.
