That's going to be a cute quilt! You can get tons of help for applique by going to the Applique Virtual Section. Go to the Home page, scroll down to the All User-Defined Sections, scroll down to the Applique topic and subscribe. You will find lots of help and suggestions there!

Use wonder under to fuse cup cakes to your blocks. Then iron a piece of freezer paper to back of block and appliqué ‘After you finish you can pull off the paper. Be sure to iron the shiny side of freezer paper to have it adhere to fabric. Hope you understand what am try to explain. I use this method when I appliqué on sweat shirts and it keep the fabric stable and is cheaper than stabilizer.

Where did you get your pattern from??? I have 12 granddaughters and LOTS of fabrics that would be perfect.

So cute and fun looking ! I know my first try was a mess ! Glad you found this site to help you out !! If you go to a quilting store they also will help you out too ! I like a spray they have that is like a starch that does not flake , seems to help too. post a pic when you finish, I really like this one alot ! might have to try my hand on one soon !

Have you tried steam a seam, then zig zag the cupcakes onto the background, or turn the edges under a hair and sew them down.
