My very cheap garage sale find

cherylmae, thanks for reminding me of another way to do tackle this project. I took a class many years ago that used Do-Sew sewn to the back of the block. Then steamed. It shrinks just enough to pull in the edges to create a wonderful turned under edge. Then the pieces can be appliqued in any fashion desired.

You are one lucky lady. What a treasure to find and to think that you bought them sight unseen. That is like finding a diamond in the ditch. There are lots of repro fabrics to be had now and they might be a bit brighter than what you have but you could intersperse them with the "find" ones and have one jewel of a quilt.

Depending on how big you want the quilt to be, you could make your blocks 3x4 and add some sashing, or you could alternate some plain blocks with the appliqued blocks to make it king sized (quilt an outline of a dresden block in the empty area)
The applique will take a while, and if you do not have time to do it yourself, maybe a local quilt guild, or senior citizen center can help with that.
The plates are beautiful, and when you get it all done, you will have a treasure.
