Oh, now I am wishing I had started sewing. This is going to be a great quilt. I am loving the colors that everyone is using.

The really nice thing about clue 4 is that you can just cut out without sewing and have your clue finished in a jiffy. Of course I am not doing mine that way.

I didn't understand Bonnie's comment regarding the way she cut the paper. I can see the size of the paper she cut in the photo, but what difference would it have made if she had cut the paper the other way? Just that she would get more subcuts from each piece?

It is a very small string unit. The option for matched sets means there must be that number in each block.

bad news good news! Doing strings, which I've been hoping for, but yipes, I chose a gold yardage for my oranges.

Good news is when I had my mother here, deep in dementia, I just couldn't think. So I set up a card table across from her chair and sewed strings. and more strings. And let her shouting just roll over me.
I have orange strings! Lots of yellow in them too but still warm and cheerful. I'm happy!

those are super nice strips kalamaquilts!

here is my pile of scraps for this clue. I'm going to use a lot of orangy yellows - love the brightness they bring.

Great strips, Kalama. You are ahead of the game. My mom had Alzheimers for 10 years, so I understand the need to be in the room present but also have an escape. Since I'm using yardage, I simply cut the sizes. Now I have a chance to work on the Fun on the Farm BOM.

I loved the idea of strings but went to my string bucket and only had 3 orange strings. So I went to my tub of the size needed and used all the oranges I could then cut from my strip bin . So now I have that done went back and finished squaring up my little squares now both clues 3 and 4 are done. Now on to gift sewing.

I'm so tickled with this week's clue!!!! I decided to do her strip pieced block choice and had them done lickety split... I seriously contemplated just cutting them as solid non-pieced units, but I'm glad I decided to do the strips.

Just love seeing everyone's fabrics and string blocks. I had a feeling strings would show up in this mystery somewhere. I've never actually made a string block so I am debating if I want to try it or just do a strip set.

lora3677 - glad to hear your strings when so fast - maybe I'll give it a try.

I still have to trim a few of my chevron units And sew/press/trim all of my HST units (but everything is cut). My plan is to get the HST sewn tomorrow morning then I can trim everything while I watch football.

I have an extra day off next week so I have some extra time to ruminate about Clue #4.
