I just joined the guild and have enjoyed the people that belong and what they do for projects. The members have been very welcoming and helpful. We meet in a room in a retirement home.

Take some time to decide what it is YOU WANT. I'm a little over a year away from dropping activites that weren't rewarding. I'd gotten so I disliked the people, too. Now, I work toward what I want instead of reacting to what I think is expected of me. Now I like my old associates a great deal and myself even more

I have done everything I could possible do to try and like going there, but this year, is my NEW year, NEW me and I don't want to do anything that does not make ME happy any more....

I think you have your answer right there. Maybe you could go tonight to fulfill your obligations or get someone else to take them over for the future and then stop going. Why force yourself to continue to do anything that doesn't add to your life add bring you joy. It sounds as if you have tried to bring new ideas to the group and they aren't interested. If there are others in the guild that feel as you do, you might want to start a quilting group of your own. You could take turns hosting the meetings in your homes. Whatever you decide to do, stick to your plan for a NEW YOU if that will make you happy. GOD Bless.

I feel the same way. :) With my MCS issues, I can't join groups, but I have found everything I need right here. People who love quilting as I do. People who will listen to me when I'm down or need to vent. People who cheer with me when I have good news and am happy. People who have prayed for us when my DH is doing poorly with his cancer. People who share funny jokes and people who inspire me and guide me when I need advice about quilting. This is the right place for me and it brings me JOY. Thanks, everybody. :)

I've mentioned before about the unfriendly, clique we have in my town, so I drive 67km to a friendly group which meets in the studio of one of the members. I look forward to it every time. One of my friends belongs to a group that rotates meetings in each of the members houses, but that could be trying at times. My photography group meets upstairs in a club house (sort of like a casino, I guess). The only fee was that we had to become members of the club - perhaps you could find a similar venue?

I have never been and I recently discovered a friend, not close, more like an aquaintence, is a member of a quild. I will be going with him to his meeting to check things out. I'm hoping that I meet and make some wonderful friends. Not to mention, on how much I may learn.

I was afraid to just go, not knowing if the women would welcome a man. I've heard storries.
