Every year there is a free whole bus system in place. Outside the convention center and the white blowup building is a bus tent where they all stop.
Several routes with some going to the hotels, some to Eleanor Burns and some just up and down the hiway to Hancocks and the mall. Great way to rest the legs. One time I was sitting next to the Grand Prize winner. Pick up a schedule with the routes and keep it with you. I am going to be using it this year.
Be sure and get on the right one and, if your time is short, remember they do not come often and it usually is a nice slow ride. But free.

Oh!...got a nice Quilt Show story to share...I almost forgot...
Two years ago when Mariya Waters won, she hadn't planned on attending. She's Australian and decided not to make the long trip. Well, when they called and told her that she'd won the Grand Prize, she proceeded to make the 11th hour trip to Paducah. She traveled for over 48 hours, and had been bumped from flights and stood stand-by at just about every connection in every airport. When she finally got to Memphis it was the day before the show. She got on the last flight to Paducah (full of quilters, who didn't have a clue who she was) as a stand-by, and started to take her seat when they announced that the plane was overweight and the stand-by passengers would have to get off. She was exhausted and frazzled and told the flight attendant that she just HAD to get to Paducah, because her quilt won the Grand Prize.....EVERY QUILTER ON THE PLANE STOOD UP and offered to give her their seat! There wasn't a dry eye on the plane. (a pilot who was dead-heading, gave up his seat so everyone could stay on the plane together)
Isn't that a great story!!

Here's a fun thing to do on Friday...the Fabric Flurry on the lawn of the Museum. For $10, you can get as much fabric as you can stuff in your Flurry Bag!

Here is a PDF map of the area right around the convention center: http://www.americanquilter.com/docum...arking_map.pdf
It shows parking areas and where the bus(trolley) stop is. You can the surrounding area. It may take a few moments for it to download, but it is a great help. It looks like they will have the area where the old Executive Inn was demolished ready for parking...that will REALLY make a difference in the availability of slots.
Edited to say what I thought was the Museum is really a nursing home...sorry.
