Gas stations have an odd way of doing things. The gas that is in the underground tanks needs to generate enough money for the station owner to pay for the next load of fuel. As the owner sees the price of the next load going up, he needs to raise the current price at the pump so he can pay the new higher price.
Thanks for saying this. I've always tried explaining this, but have never been able to get it come out so clear :-).

On the way to work yesterday (Tuesday - 5/10), gas was running $3.75 to $3.89. Late in the afternoon I noticed FB posts from friends saying gas was jumping. By the time I was heading home, it was $4.05 most places. I did spot one place at the bottom of the hill between the city I work and the city I live that still had it for $3.76, so you bet I filled up. I was down to under a half.

It was just announced that it was going to go down about 50 cents, but it went up from $3.89 to $3.99! That's gouging!
I work from home...so I just stay home! And that's hurting the economy!!

With my hubby and I going to work, and daughter driving 65 miles one way 4 days a week to college and 50 to work 2 days a week, we are spending almost $250 a WEEK in just gas!! No wonder my stash has stopped growing! That's almost $1000 a month just for gasoline!! And now Illinois wants to add a one cent per ounce tax on soda... Yes. 1cent per ounce on pop!!! That was just on the local news today!!

On the "plains of the dakota's" last friday (5-6), it was 3.97 a gallon, now on 5-10, it's 3.92. We were told ove the weekend, that it should start dropping by about .50 cents within the month. So we might still get a couple of short trips yet this summer. I see alot of people staying home this summer due to the gas prices.

In North Dakota, we deal with this daily....we just shake are heads with wonder as to how "we" can be so high for price, but the highest state for oil production.....just don't understand ourselves either. And I can see atleast 4 oil wells from our house, and the really sad part, "we don't own any one of them".

Monday on my way to work it was $3.79
Tuesday on my way to work it was $3.73
Today it was back to $3.79 on my way to work, well on my way home it was $3.89

I think this must be some kind of new math, I always thought lower ment cheaper.
