There was also some sewing labels that said Handmade by Ruth, so the machines name is now Ruth.

oh my goodness...being a mom who lost her son in Iraq and my father in Vietnam I can't help but cry when I read your post....like the rest I would be trying to track the family down just to share with them your find and let them know that is was so important to mom she kept it in her most sacred place...her sewing machine cabinet...I keep some things in my sewing room for those moments I need to know my son is close by...strange to those who have never been in that sad place but true...thank you for sharing your story with us today...as we approach the 4th of July and the knowledge that our independance came at a price even today....blessings
