I pulled up your photo and thought "WHOOEE - I like that!" I am also finishing a red/black/white quilt and I think your striped border is a dramatic finishing touch, especially with the cornerstones you have. Go for it!

i happen to like stripes and you went to a lot of trouble to miter those and match. just do a red binding.
