There are other Seniors' groups that concentrate more on representing seniors' needs than on politics, as AARP does. Are you aware that AARP pushed for passage of obamacare, because they would be one of the favored suppliers? Most people aren't aware that AARP is now basically an insurance-pushing company, and it's pushing mainly its own interests. Caveat emptor!

I also think I get $8 worth of info about Soc. Security, Medicare and senior issues, but money for this isn't a huge issue for me, it may be for you...and if you're not a senior yet you may feel you don't need the articles, but a lot of them are now aimed at the younger membership. I think their finance articles are pretty good too. They do have a lot of ads....

My DH joined this year against my better judgement. Now I'm inundated by junk mail for this medical plan or that medical plan, insurance and even cremations. I'm only 52 and don't qualify for anything because I don't have Medicare but I guess they gave my address to all these companies anyway?!?!?. I wonder how much money they made selling our information to these companies! He'd better NOT renew next year.

My husband joined then I asked him why? What does it do? Not much for us Seniors and they intend to do less and less. What a waste of good money that I could have spend on groc. or gas or better yet in the fabric dept. I belonged for years and decided some time ago it what interests them the most is their very large salaries.

Was an AARP member for one year, but got nothing from it and since then find more and more they are not too in line with what's important to me.

wow..how did this innocent question turn so political....I am an AARP member and have found that their discounts are better than any other around here..even our Military one!
