Hardly anyone's first quilt is wonderful. The idea is to learn to quilt, enjoy it, and don't worry so much. As long as you can see you made mistakes you will do a lot better on the next one. Your children will enjoy the warmth and cozy quilt even if it is not perfect.

My favorite ruler is my 8.5x24 and a 6x12. The others I buy as I go, but these are my 2 favs. I also live in the world that if it can't be seen from a galloping horse, then it doesn't exist. Don't worry about the mistakes - and think about the adventure you were on.

The best ruler that I ever bought, and I've bought a lot, is the June Taylor Shape Cut! I don't even put it away, it is always out and ready to use, which is more than I can say for all the others. Enjoy the quilting process and don't be hard on yourself for your imperfections,I bet no one but you will even see the so-called errors. Welcome aboard!

Welcome to the club! I don't know many people who loved their first quilt attempt. Mistakes are the only way to learn any skill. My first quilt projects each taught me some new "trick of this trade." It is best to jump into being creative and allowing yourself to discover what you would like to learn more about. Quilting is an art - it is perfected with practice and there are many many areas and mediums one can dabble with. You will eventually find your niche and as time goes on get to know yourself even better.

Good luck and keep on quilting... Let your soul express itself instead of trying to do or be what someone else has done. I hope you look back with joy and laughter at your early mistakes and see them as progress.

    Hugs from afar
