Great job, and I agree - it's wonderful to rescue the work of a woman who may be gone by now. Her work lives on in yours!

That is so lovely! I can't imagine how much work has gone into this quilt from start to finish. I'm so glad you saved the squares and finished the project. Your work is beautiful!

Wow, that is spectacular! You were so lucky to find them, and the blocks needed you to make them into a gorgeous, useful quilt.

Well, there are some items that I give up or pass by because I know I will never finish them or start them.

Perhaps, for the one who gave them up, it was simply something like that. Better to give them up to someone who can bring them to life than to let them sit in a drawer for years.

Beautiful work! Gorgeous. You should be so proud. You did a great job putting it all together and finishing. I often wonder how many of those kinds of things are sitting in drawers.

I also was going to say Herschners, as I remember getting their catalogs as a girl.

Hurrah! Another fantastic save. What a tribute to the person doing all that cross-stitch.

After purchasing the squares for $25, found out one lady in our group had received these as a gift from a friend (found at a yard sale)about 2 years before that! So I vowed I would do something with the squares since she had decided to give them up!

Well, it was finished this last Monday then washed and put onto my bed! It is huge. I hand did embroidery around all the elements(center and corners) in a running stitch and then did french knots on the rays. What was I thinking! It took me about 9 months to get it all done, but I think it turned out great.

I wondered though if anyone has ever seen this design and could tell me what it is? I've been looking at all the sites that sell stamped cross stitch kits but nothing is close.
What a great quilt and a wonderful job of quilting it. I'm from Ohio too but I've never heard of your city/town. I'm in NE Ohio 35 miles south of Cleveland
