As to permanently labeling the quilt. I made my sick brother a quilt and wrote his name & address and the fact that it was made by his sister in permanent marker on the back. Sounds drastic I know, but I didn't want it to go missing without some evidence on it. Only problem was when he passed away I gave the quilt to a his neighbor lady who had been extremely helpful to him and us during his illness. Now she also has the permanent markings too.
