Clearly a masterpiece. Not only is he beautiful in color and a testament to your mad talent and PERSEVERANCE, he is adorable in a whimsical way. The eye you chose is perfect!! 50 flowers....LOL. That would be me. I love the I Spy nature of spotting other sea critters in his belly. The black and white contouring fabric you chose was a good one. And yes, is there some applique involved or just intricate cutting of the designs within fabrics?

Pin a big ole blue ribbon on this one!

Regarding the technique used for making my seahorse....

1) Traced Seahorse on voile
2) Roughly cut out collage fabric pieces and fused on steam a seam 2 lite (double sided fusible)
3) Finely cut out collage pieces from fusible. Remove fusible...pieces will be a little tacky but repositionable
4) Position pieces and finger press for temp hold. Iron when everything is in its final place.
5) Cut out seahorse shape from voile
6) Stick seashore on background/quilt sandwich. I used 505 basting spray.
7) Quilt as desired. I did some random Fmq all over the seahorse trying to catch all the ends of the bits of fabric pieces.

Now I see what fabric you used for your sea turtles and octopus, but I still don't see the puffer fish. Because of your seahorse, I am very interested in collage quilts now. This is probably my favorite quilt that I have seen on the Quilting Board, and considering the amazing quilts shown on here, that is saying a lot!

Oh, I do like this! I've seen another one in person but prefer your bright colors and the little creatures hidden among the other fabrics.

I can hardly wait to see how you finish him! I love all your sea life that you incorporated along his body.
