I gave my 1st quilt to my daughter. It was a bargello especially made for her. She still has it.

Mine was a SunBonet Sue done many years ago for my oldest daughter using polyster and cotton. (Before I new you shouldn't use polyster!!!) It had been well worn and washed many time and was falling apart. We used it to bury our beloved border collie last June.

Sadly, my first quilt was made in 1790 when I was in nursing school. It was from a Simplicity pattern and the instructions didn't say anything about 1/4" seams so I did the usual 5/8" seams and pressed them open. It was for my baby sisters' bed. The fabrics were a solid and floral each of a pastel pink, blue, and green. The pattern was a pinwheel. All went well till the quilting part...that's when I could have used a little hands on instruction! I tied it in each quadrant and in the center. Can you imagine?! The girls loved it but needless to say the first time it got laundered it turned into a lumpy, bumpy mess. So, it is now disintegrating in the Salisbury landfill!

My first quilt is proudly displayed on the wall of my sewing room. I absolutely think you should keep your first one so that you can look back at it after you've learned more and become more experienced. When I learned to quilt, my teacher had her first quilt. I really liked being able to see that and so vowed to keep mine. It's a nine patch and rail, and it's really not too bad,IMHO.

The first one can be such a teaching tool and a constant reminder of how far you've come along. Hard to say waht the right answer is.

Nope. I gave my first one to my Daddy before he died. Of course, now I have it back. But it was his.

Mine went to my folks. My mom still has it on her bed....and shows it off whenever she can. No idea what will happen to it when she passes.

Yours is so pretty, I would keep it.
