Wish I had made that quilt. I don't know the ladies name that brought it in. Your right a larger black border would have been nice. I took a lot of pictures that night. I have a few pictures of one quilt that wasn't done yet. It was laid out on a table. I do know the lady that made it. She is an invalid and worked on it for 3 years. She did cross stich on the entire quilt. It was just beautiful. I took 3 different pictures of it. My quilting friend took it and finished it on her long arm and I saw it again when it was finished but didn't have my camera that day. The woman that made it was giving it to her daughter. I'm sure that girl will cherish it forever. Here are some pictures of her quilt.

That quilt was huge when it was finished. I'm sure it was a King Size. I'd love to be able to do that but I don't have the patience.

WOW! What an amazing quilt! I vote for a single black border too. Great job, your colors are fabulous!

On the topic of borders, it's a bargello, you don't want a border that is going to take away from the bargello design....if you want to add a border, make it a solid color so it's not competing with the center fabrics in the design.... if it was me, I would put a 4 inch solid black border on it, with black binding.
I totally agree with Shadow. Keep it simple to not distract from the beauty of the quilt body. this is just my opinion.
