I always wash! I love the look of a quilt after its washed, besides I want it to smell wonderful when the recipient snuggles under it.

I prewash everything. After putting so much work in a quilt I'm not about to have it shrink and look like a used rag. Especially when giving it as a gift to someone.

I've only made one gift since starting to quilt. It was a flannel baby quilt.

I typed up detailed instructions on how to wash it and dry it.

i'm another quilter that doesn't prewash my fabrics so i do wash the finished product. gives me a chance to make sure my binding is set nicely as well.

I only wash and iron the material before I make a quilt never after it is finished unless I stained it and then I would only treat the stain.

The only time I've ever washed a quilt before giving was when I used a baste-less batting...it wasn't very soft until I did.

I always wash them because I take pics of them AFTER they are done and washed. I like the way the quilts look after they are washed, even when I have prewashed the fabric. Also, I have black dog hair everywhere--it even creeps into my sewing room which is a "no dog zone." I don't think people need dog hair as an extra gift.

I wash and dry the fabric but I do not iron it. It is just folded and put in the stash. I do not wash before giving, but include washing instructions.
