One thing to remember is that for every [ * ] code you need a closing code [/ * ] but remember NO SPACES and no asterisks either. Be sure to use the correct code with no extra words or characters. Whatever you want to be in red, quoted, linked, etc needs to be in between the opening [ * ] and the closing [/* ]. If you are doing something like bold and color, you need the brackets to be in order. In other words like this but without spaces.
[b ]this is where you want the text[/b ] notice how the bold brackets enclose both of the color brackets? So it would look like this without the spaces:
this is where you want the text

Disregard the note from me as I was trying the smiley how to and I am so proud of myself, nothing blew up and I got two symbols. Sometimes this thing scares me and then there are times that I just do not know how to follow the instructions of; example posting a picture. Alas and alack I will learn, slowly I am sure.

I haven't even figured out how to add a picture to my avatar. I just tried to add a smiley face and it put in words when I clicked on it

Try getting rid of the first [ and the space after the word blue in both places.
