Most of my hand quilting is done in the evening but after retiring, I decided there was no such thing as guilt when I wanted to quilt during the day. I just enjoy it and spent years doing what my boss wanted so now -_--_-_ it's my time. Enjoy

I am so happy to know there are lots of hand quilters out there. When I told a lady I know who teaches quilting that I planned to do hand quilting she said that no one does that anymore.

How great to see that the lady is wrong! I am sure I will hand quilt as long as possible in my life.

So I'm anxious to know when you quilt.
I feel the same ---guilty iif I sit and hand quilt during the day so it's night time with the TV on.

I handquilt whenever where ever. I keep a small project, wall quilt, pillow top etc. in my go bag. I take it to our twice monthly Bee or on any trip I take. I got a lot of small things done durring down time on the cruises we have taken. If I am working on a bed quilt I have it on a round standing hoop in front of my TV chair. If I have a project I have to get done within a time frame I put in as much as 8 hours in a day. Thank goodness for cable and prime time shows on demand that I have missed.
I have currently put about 20 hours into a 250th anniversary quilt for our church. Several other faithful ladies have been working on the 250 six inch paper pieced houses that represent the families in the congregation. I embroidered, on my embroidery machine the names of each family to be placed under each house. As the most competent handquilter on the project I have done all of the borders and the 36inch square appliqued center. We hope to get started on the binding within the next week or so.
I volunteer at our local Senior Center on monday mornings. We spend about an hour and a half actually handquilting on a quilt that will be raffled off to benefit the center programs. We are currently working on the fourth quilt we have made since I started with the group. I also handquilted two bed size quilts that our local Linus chapter raffled off to raise funds for their supplies, mailings etc. This year's winner was drawn yesterday. I wonder who won. They already have another top ready for me to get started on next years.

I hand quilt, at night I do it while watching t.v with Hubby, on my days off I do it listening to the radio, in an upholstered rocking chair bought just for that sort of thing. I'm fortunate tof work a ten hour days, that gives me one day all to myself, I do what ever I want on that day; sometimes I only leave my sewing room to eat, or let the dog out.
