    I have used the same pattern with much success. My DIL and I made 30 small versions for a cancer benefit just using 4 patches, but I have also enlarged it to make diaper bags and laptop bags. When cutting this out the first thing I do is cut 2-5" strips wof to use to make handles any lenght I want.
