Gardeners, what's your favorite variety of tomato to grow?

I grow 50-60 tomato plants every year for different uses, fresh eating, sauce, salad, etc, Big Boy, grape tomatoes, sweet 100, Early Girl, Romas for thick sauce, but for the most mouthwatering tomato sandwich you can't beat a thick slab cut from an ugly, bumpy Brandywine heirloom tomato. Who knew such a funny fruit could hide such a beautiful taste.

Haven't started to do my seed order but like to try different types. Always use Romas that make good Kethup, BBQ sauce and chilli sauce. Like to try some of the old varieties for eating and canning. It is time to get that catalogue out.

i love the romas and the big boys !! that is what grows in my garden, beside the 3 plants of cherry tomatos my grandkids put in (these are their plants) they go out to pick them and by the time they get back to the house they only have a few left, they eat them as fast as they can pick them!!

I planted yellow romas one year and man did they produce. Very meaty. Daughter and I made salsa and yellow spaghetti sauce-- meatless but you have to add a stick of butter. She even canned them. which was good in soups because of the low acid. They do have a core that you have to trim out with a knife. They are longer than the red roma. they do reseed.

Roma, definately Roma. I like the grape tomatos also but there get to be so many and harder to keep off the ground it seemed. (we fence ours) The Romas stayed smaller and firmer-good for snacking and good for salsa and salads. They were more plentiful than the larger tomato brands.
