    That is a very nice first square and the applique is very good! I only have one suggestion though. I used to iron my quilting seams open like you do because that is how we are taught when we sew garments, ect but if you can iron them to one side (usually tward the darker fabric) your blocks will line up much neater :) Great job and please post pics of the finished project :)

    Great block. Once this is pinned and sewn to other blocks, it should be fine.

    Don't get dismayed and don't stop. If you continue and frustration, etc. sets in.......Come back and discuss with all of us who thought our "first works" weren't what they should be but they were. This block is great.
