When I prewash I zigzag the ends. It prevents the threads from being all over and I know which ones I have prewashed.

Chuck them in a pillowcase, works better than a lingerie bag as there is nothing to snag on.

I love my front loader.....reduces the amount of strings when pre-washing significantly!

I don't know what all the fuss is about. Dangly threads are just part of working with a fabric medium, to be expected, just like catching colds from hugging your toddlers, getting dirt under your fingernails when gardening or purple fingers when canning pickled beets. It's all part of the plan.

You could use your over locker to serge all around the raw edges to keep them in check before you washed them?

    Hi Trina,
If you have access to a serger they work great for keeping all those loose threads from driving you nuts! Otherwise, a zigzag run around all edges is the next best thing.

I found that serging the cut ends before I pre-wash eliminated the twisting, threads intertwined around everything, frustrations.
