Way to go! The ultimate goal is to finish so you succeeded! That's what counts. Enjoy your company and good luck with surgery!

David Went suggested I go with values, so I am still playing. I was trying to go from lights to darks. I didn't like it with them all mixed up. Some of them are just impossible to find the right spot. Thanks for your help.

Finally got my second block all set to put together and thought I would change it around before sewing. I think I like the 2nd block better, but didn't want to waste the 1st since I spent so much time on it. Could I alternate between the 2 blocks, or should I stick with one.

You might do 2 of each and put them together to see the secondary pattern and how it looks. Take a pic with all together and another with just one style and another with a couple of the other style. No reason why can't have two.

Both are beautiful but I prefer the second one too! I like how the light is in the center. How did you get the outer blocks in the first to have the extra 1/4 inch so that the points won't be cut off when you join them to other blocks? (I mean the points on the green sections at 12 o'clock, 3 o'clock, etc.

I noticed that too, but have not a clue as to why. Can you tell I'm a struggling quilter. Anyway, here's the link for the pattern if you're interested. Gee, it's no telling what I'll get with the next block.
