My niece does mine and I give her $15. Well worth it as she is the only one who seems to be able to give me the cut I want.

Lets see.............Just had my hair highlighted, done in foil and it cost $80.00. The cuts are $20.00. When I have to pay $80.00 I have a really hard time leaving a big tip!

I pay $10 to $12 for a cut which consists of a shampoo, cut, dry and style. Funny but her weekly shampoo and sets cost a lot more and are the same thing except no cutting is involved. Makes no sense. I get a perm every 3 months for 40. I travel 45 miles to get it done since she does such a good job and dread the moment she decided to retire.

Oh, and she will hand a tip back to you because she owns the shop.

I had a beautician that cut my hair just like I wanted it and I paid her to give me lessons how to cut my hair. I cut, she supervised. I haven't been to a salon in years and my hair is always just how I want it. Oh, never cut across, hold the scissors vertically and snip 1/4" at a time. Learned that years ago. The hair doesn't have that just cut look to it. That tip paid for itself many times when my girls had bangs and always needed a trim but hated the just cut look.

My color, cut & style is $70 every 5-6 weeks. I've been going to the same hairstylist for 15 years.

That has been my problem too. I went to my daughters salon because she had bragged so on her stylist. First haircut great, second so-so, third awful. I just can't get a good haircut and I think my cut is really simple. I have decided I don't know how to describe the cut I want. Well, maybe not, it also seems like I get the cut the stylist wants me to have not even close to what I tell them.

Could you find a picture of what you llike and take that with you?
