In hot Alabama and HOT St Mary's Georgia, we use our quilts year round. I have used W and N the most, but am currently using just a light loft poly for my daughter in St Mary. My SIL has a flannel quilt I made him, on their bed year round! Air conditioning can feel so good under a quilt.

Thanks for all your input. I do have a flannel sheet and since I am under the gun for time, I think I will use it as the batting. If it is too warm my great neice can use it as a beach blanket as they live in Bradenton...

I wonder if you know your families preferences helps. Some people tend to get hot easily under blankets and others require them. I would judge the batting used by what you know of the recipient.

I live in Florida. I use Hobbs Heirloom for all my quilts. I dont't care if it's hot here. A quilt has to have it's batting to look good....and we don't cover up in the summer, but all the beds have quilts on them...

I notice tho, that when son comes to visit he is always wrapped up in the quilt, well, the ac is on too.

It's over 100 here but i sleep with a quilt as I get chilled from the fan and A/C, although I keep it at 78-79.
I have used warm and natural as well as Quilter's Dream Cotton. It can get very cold here in winter as the humidity can remain high. It may only snow by a freak of nature but we do wear winter caps and lightweight parkas to go walking or to shop. You will find this in FL too. I was in Panama City Beach a few years ago and nearly froze in Dec. (And I worethose cuddle duds.) Then I've gone to Daytona area and it was 80 at that time of yr.

I live in Texas where it is really hot right now. I think that since most folks use air conditioning that it really wouldn't matter much. Of course, folks will tell you that I keep my house really, really cold in the summer!

I have a friend that lives in Northern Florida. I made her a quilt with W&N and she loves it. Of course, she runs her AC during the summer.
