I absolutely LOVE binding.I can sit with my loving husband while he watches tv. I have actually done binding for others and they can not understand WHY I love doing it so much .I am very reasonable in price too.

I like this. I'll try this on my next one. Binding is the one thing that drives me bonkers and sometimes I think it is all in my head, which should be a good thing because there isn't much else in my head. Kidding aside, this sounds like a great idea and I'm going to try it. Many thanks.

Binding is the home stretch!! You get there, you're almost finished! Don't give up at that point - we're not quitters, we're quilters! Just get it done and you'll have such an incredible feeling of satisfaction!

I think that those of us who don't like doing the binding are trying to say that it is not the binding itself that we don't like doing, it is the hand sewing part of it that we do not like. I for one would like nothing more than to be able to sit & watch TV in the evening with my dear husband and sew on a binding. However, with my crappy handsewing abilities (there I said it), I am never going to enjoy the fairy tale of sitting & watching TV with my dear husband, yada yada. So, I sew that sucker entirely by machine so I can finish up in my sewing room & still have time in the evening to watch some TV with my husband.

I do not enjoy the hand sewing either. But I don't like the alternative either - machine stitched binding. I mostly don't like the hand sewing because of my arthritic hands. I can do maybe two or three needles of thread, and then have to stop for the day.

I have done a few gift and charity quilts and mug rugs with machine binding, but it doesn't make me as proud of my work...

I will do the machine binding if it is to be a very used, daily quilt. If it is a special quilt then I do the binding by hand.
