I'll stick with carpeting. I have trouble with my chair rolling out from under me when I'm not on carpet! LOL I'm in the basement and it seems cozier with the carpet in the winter.

I have laminate floor in the sewing room and I like it. It is much easier to clean and keep looking acceptable. Also the chair I use has rollers so it moves much better on the hard surface.

I would perfer a woodne type floor in the sewing room, as it is easier to clean and you can see the threads, pieces of fabric and pins better.

My husband and son are allergic to the entire world. When we moved into this house there was carpeting in all ten rooms. Only the downstairs bathroom had linoleum. We are down to two carpeted rooms left to do and I absolutely love the wooden floor in my sewing room. Pins can get stuck in carpeting and they are hard to find. You can also step on them if you are barefoot like I often am. The wooden floors in my house were all covered with ugly old carpeting and I was happy to see it go.

Had carpet when we moved in.......yuck! The entire house is now laminate including kitchen & baths. Hubby is a Master Endorsed Pergo installer :-). Area rugs in some spots...and I dust it with a 4' wide janitor's mop.

This time I have ceramic tile in my sewing room. It's great and so easy to clean as opposed to carpet. Wood would be good too.

Two years ago I pulled up all the carpet in my house and put down laminate wood. Love it. ( Easier to clean up cat hairs.) I keep a dust broom in my sewing room and when finished sewing for the day, I just run the dust broom over the area and get rid of all the strings, threads, small pieces etc and the room is neat and clean for the next day of sewing. And as for the cold feet in winter....I wear sox.

That is what i did also, my husband is a diabetic and with carpet you can't see if a needle is dropped, this way i can see them. Not that i want him in the sewing room, but occasionally he does wander in to see what i am doing.
