I wondered that as well...but I guess you could make the pillowcase bigger, just have to cut your fabric wider? But I haven't tried it yet.

So I was out looking for a tutorial on HOW to machine a pillowcase and found this tutorial from the Missouri Star Quilt Company on Youtube....and all I can say is.......IT'S GENUS....COMPLETELY GENUS! :)

I was kind intimidated because I have only ever made quilt tops, no other sewing under my belt, and the thought of hems and things scare me. This COMPLETELY my seed. You only have to sew along 3 lines and you get a gorgeous pillowcase!!!

I know I know....you are thinking I'm posting too many videos as of late. Sorry about that, but I thought this is a great watch for people who wanted to make a pillowcase, but thought it would be difficult to attempt.

I have been making pillow cases the same way. Pillow cases are like potato chips, you can't make just one. I went thru my closet and cut fabric to make the pillow cases. Made over 1 doz for charity. They are fun!

One year for Christmas I bought each of my 5 children down comforters. Then I bought some holiday material and made a huge pillow case to hold each of the comforters. I gathered the opening together and put a huge ribbon (the wide kind) to tie it. Looked like Santa's Bag............if you know what I mean. My children loved it and they had a storage bag for their comforters. They looked pretty too.

I'm keeping it in a plastic tote now since we get the occasional mouse in from the fields.
I don't really know, but I had heard that storing quilts in plastic prevents the fabric from "breathing" & is not good for it???? Perhaps there is a chance the plastic could cause moisture to build up????

    Anyone else ever hear this????
A long time ago I heard that all quilts should be stored in pillowcases so they are allowed to BREATHE. Plastic will cause moisture to build up inside just from the change of temp. in your HOUSE - especially going from a/c to heat. Then you will have problems with rotting and bugs. I even keep my wedding dress (40+yrs) in a pillowcase and have not had a problem with it.
