    This is a really happy quilt! Cross-hatching also occurred to me, though the addition of the chicken wire might make it to busy. So, echo quilting with cross hatching in the sashing might work. Great job!

    Thank you all for all your compliments and good ideas! I still have to think about how to quilt but I think I will echo around the chicks. The sashing is only 1" wide so cross hatching might not work?

    You can easily echo quilt...just travel along the ditch to begin again, using a fine thread (50 or 60 weight) so the thread doesn't build up. I am a chicken-in-my-kitchen lover, and also have a chicken wall hanging in my sewing room, so this is WAY CUTE!
