Thank you for all of the kind comments everyone. I do hope others take the plunge. I am looking forward to seeing the results!

That video was wonderful! I may have to try creating a piece of wall art for our home. If I can create what I did on fabric I should be able to do the same thing on the water soluable stabilizer which I happen to have in my drawer :-)

Today I tried free motion embroidery on water soluble stabilizer. Not so good because my stabilizer is quite thin so the needle holes made minced meat of it quickly. I tried again, this time putting a piece of black tulle between two layers of the thin stabilizer. That worked okay but my design was using black thread to make a spider in a spider web and the design detail was lost on that tulle.

I guess I'll have to shell out some money for a better weight stabilizer for this technique and try again later. In any case, it was a fun way to spend a few hours today experimenting with a machine's (and mine) capabilities.

My wife took a class using water-soluble stabilizer, and they used multiple layers of it. Try using more layers.

Okay, that is a good idea. I'll try 4 layers and see how it goes. Thanks for the tip.
