    I use plain white chalk---it wipes off with a brush or a damp cloth---very inexpensive and it is very visible...

    i just submitted and used a deep pink fixion pen to mark on navy blue. the chemicals make me nervous, but the pens worked and i stopped crying and got the quilt done.
