I don't believe I have seen a comment regarding using old ties for a quilt. I am working on one right now. You can go really crazy with ties. I love the Disney ties, I love the big floral ties, I love the golf, Americana, fishing, I love all the ties. I started going to thrift stores to buy mine, got most for a dollar or less.

Do you cut them up for piecing or do you use them in a special way? I'd love a pattern for using ties. Can you post the link or did you create the pattern yourself?

I wash the ties before I cut them up. Cold water with a little soap. I cant remember where I got the pattern I am using. I think i just googled "necktie quilt patterns".

My (guy) cousin once said, "What is wrong with flowers on a quilt? Guys like pretty things, too" He is a truck driver and married father of three.

I like the quilt for your husband. It looks pretty straight forward. Is this a particular pattern? If so, do you have a link? Or any instructions? Thanks.

I just made a nice Bargello as a community quilt made for a guy... but my Mom nabbed it for my Dad! If a guy gripes about a few flowers, tell him that Earth as we know it would not exist if there were no flowers in the world...and there'd probably be no people either!

It doesn't look girlie at all! In fact, it reminds me of the colors on the various fish we catch around here in Idaho. Mmmm, now I'm hungry.
