I think we need to come up with the 12 steps for quilters! Welcome to the board - I think of it as a guild that meets when I have time to attend, not one that I have to rearrange my life and my families life to get to, and classes that I can take when my brain is functioning.
I am a shift worker too, and live in Australia, so it is great for me

Hello and welcome. If you are anything like me, you'll find you will amass a great deal of very useful information and tips on here. Thats the upside, but the downside is you'll spend so much time on here reading all the posts that you'll never have the time to try much of anything out.

I got up yesterday, intending to hit Joann's for their big week-end sale (with coupons, of course) and to get their early. Even spent night before clipping snips from a quilt I am about to start, but needing a bit more fabric, stapled snips to paper and wrote all important info so I would be prepared and not too tempted to buy more than I NEEDED. (HA-as if!!) I just HAD to check e-mails before I left and 5 HOURS LATER I got in the car!! Yes, I'd say this site is addicting! BUT, I did get to Joann's and bought the most yummy fabs, threads (50% off) and batting and made a dent in my cc by several hundred dollars!!!! So much for being prepared so I didn't buy more than I needed!!!

I so fell upon this site by accident. So enjoyed it!! That I joined it. Raged to my mom until she joined it. It is fun, educational, and so great to have you ladies to hear from. Your ideas have helped me and inspired me. I have wanted to make several quilts for a long time. I am now in the middle of two of them. And as I am learning. Have at least three. Waiting for the attenetion to become more than a thought. They are working up very fast. And thanks Mary for the site on hand sewing. Have several blocks sewed up and ready. My patriotic quilt is coming along great.
Son came in and said Mom would like to make a quilt for a friend. So everything got moved around so we could cut and design. It is almost ready to sew and I got a 4 day weedend. Ha ha ha And here I am on the board looking.
God bless you all.
Thanks

Welcome! I spend more time here than I'm willing to admit. I'm getting calluses on my left elbow from leaning on the computer desk - and my right hand is stuck in the 'mouse' position. And my chiropractor told me the problem with my back is that I sit on my ass too much ~ ~ ~
