ROYGBIV is the acronym for the "rainbow colors" Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet (purple). I don't use the Indigo... otherwise it's the 6 part color-wheel that many of us have in our "tools/supplies" drawer.

R, Y and B are the primaries; O, G, V are the secondaries made by mixing the adjacent primaries. If you bend ROYGBV into a circle, the B and R make the V... etc.

Good luck. I've always loved the "rainbow order"!

thimblebug, this is a great site for seeing a beautiful rainbow quilt! The colors are perfect and it looks so nice the way it is put together.

I'm currently saving colors of fabric to make a rainbow quilt. I bought dunbar's (did I get your name right?) pattern for Diamond Log Cabin Stars. On the back of the pattern is a picture of the quilt done in rainbow colors. I think it's breathtaking and I can't wait to get started on it. I still have more fabrics to collect first. Good luck and can't wait to see pictures.

I did one called Stairstepper similar to a bargello but gives the impression of waves (curves) - but no curved piecing

    Andy Williams sang a song:
Red, and yellow, and pink and green, purple and orange and blue .... I can sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow, too ...
    Listen with your eyes
    Listen with your eyes
and sing everything you see ...
you can sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow, sing along with me!
Red, and yellow, and pink, and green ... purple and orange and blue ....

I'm on a roll... two and a half panels done

I'm going to lay these as the width of the lap blanket I think and add some super wide borders.
