You can get a smiley face if you hold down the ALT and push #1 & than a dark one with alt #2

LynnieK - I have Windows XP, too, it works for me. Be sure you hold the Alt key down while you're typing the number in, and use the numbers on the keypad to the right of the keyboard (and be sure Num Lock is ON). Ah, and someone told me to use the Alt button to the right of the space bar, not the one to the left of it. Go figure. Oh, well... whatever works. ;)

In this thread, we aren't talking about doing anything with an Internet browser such as one of these.

Options for symbols, special characters, etc., come with your operating system I believe (mine is Windows 7) or with your installed document program. MS Works Processor came with mine (unfortunately, not MS Word). I did download the free program Open Office also. If you are considering downloading it, beware---it's a large program if you have an old 'puter!
