I love Janome still have my memory craft 9000. I only have an old, old Pfaff and it works great to. What kind of machine do you have now? Have you test driven any machines in either of these brands? I know it's on Craig's List but doing your homework always makes a big difference. IMHO. Good Luck.

I had a Pfaff for 8 years (Model 2046) It was fabulous when it worked correctly, but seemed to have constant bobbin issues. I paid $1500 for it brand new, and just sold it on Craigslist for $500.00. (BOOO!) But it was worth itto me to get rid of a constant headache, and I went to a LQS and bought a new Viking!!! No experience with Janome, sorry

I have a Pfaff that I have had for about 22 years. It still works great. I have never had any major problems with it just needs cleaned and oiled occasionally. I also have a Janome Horizon which I got a few months ago. It has the 11" harp which is really great for free motion quilting. It has a lot of nice features I love. the new Pfaff has most of these features, as well. The Janome is my primary machine but I still use the Pfaff to take to quilt group.

My local dealer has Janome 6500 second hand for sale for $350 and I got mine from this site for $700 and it had the
extension table with all of the feet. I think the Janome is overpriced.

Janome--I have had one for 2 years and am always pleased with the results. The options it provides are multiple and excellent, the salesperson a fine resource, the written materials easy to understand and all together a great piece of machinery to have.

I was thinking the same thing about a new machine. I love Janome and I owe 3 of them. But for the price you need to check on a new machine and get all the bells and whisles too, along with warrenty.

I love my Pfaff Expression 4.0. You will hear pros and cons about each machine, but try one out before you buy. To each his own!

Just a thought, in most cases warranty is not transferable.
