I retired 2 years ago. Two days after my retirement my mother became ill and spent the next 9 months in a care facility
I spent a lot of time sitting with her. After she passed I adjusted quickly to enjoying retirement. I started a sewing group and we love meeting together each week. We love each others company and after sewing we go out to lunch.
I was a Computer Media Specialist in a School District and still get called into work a couple of times a week. (Fabric money). I love being retired. I have never been bored. My "to Do" list gets longer every day.

I also retired last May and have no regrets. I love having the freedom to do whatever I wish and enjoying things I didn't have time for when I worked. Bored? ---- NEVER!

I use to get border until I took up quilting for the soldiers. Now I'm glad to get up and get started in the mornings.

I agree with everyone else. I have never been bored a day in my life. I have asked friends who state they are bored to explain it to me....After they tell me, I hope to never be there. I think we enjoy life, and make the best of every moment. When I explain my life to God, I dont want to tell him that I wasted it! Have fun and enjoy!

Don't have time to be bored. Working way to much at my second job (that became my first). They think I want to work more. Can't seem to convince them NO. Gotta have more time to quilt and clean house. I haven't even had time to spend with friends that I had planned to spend time with.

I have to reply to all these people who Never get bored. I am always bored, well really not always but quite a bit. I was raised too, to be always doing something, I have to even make myself go sit down and read a book if there are other things to be done like dusting etc. I feel guilty.
If I do not have a sewing project I get bored and if I get too bored I get down in the dumps. I think bored is a state of mind, where I feel I should always be doing something.
So I hope I did not bore you with this reply. LOL

This has been my first week of retirement and it may have been the happiest week of my life. Hubby says I have a perpetual grin on my face. The absolute relief of knowing I never have to go to work has given me a sense of total relief. This week I hand quilted a 24" table topper and pieced a lap quilt. I'm sure, like anything else, the newness will wear off but life is so sweet right now, I didn't think it was possible to feel this good. Funny thing though, have had several dreams about fabric this week. Even while sleeping, I must be thinking, so much fabric, so little time.....

I am in my 3rd year and I love it. I would love to redo another house but until the market comes back I won't even give it a lot of consideration. I am never bored and enjoy doing so many things. It helps that my grandchildren are just down the street...I, like so many have written, wonder how I had time to work all those years!

I retired 1-1/2 years ago and my hubby had previously retired. Never get bored - he does with all the rain, he loves to work outside - but besides the computer, I always have projects (sewing, quilting, embroidery, dolls) or reading (Kindle) to do. Housework seems like it doesn't require as much so a little bit and I'm done. Biggest obstacle for me was settling down as to how the expenses and income would balance out, but while we aren't rich, we are fine. We live out in the country and are just as happy to be home though we do try to go out into the world (shopping, lunch, etc.) at least once as week just to get out.

When I retired, there was a manager (fabulous guy) who retired at the same time and he made my husband and I promise to make the most of our lives and enjoy every single day. He died 6 months later and if I ever have an inclining of getting bored, I think of him and realize I know there is something fun I can do.

    We love retirement.
