There are so many variations of the Rose of Sharon, Whig Rose, Democrat Rose, Lancaster Rose, Topeka Rose etc. that I think sometimes the quilters may have mixed segments of the different ones and thereby creating a new design.
Whatever its name, it is absolutely stunning!!! Just a thought, could you have it insured?

I think I would talk him out of taking the quilt. When my BIL was in a home, if they didn't reck his quilts with washing , then something was stolen.

If your bil has his laundry done by the retirement center, be aware that it will probably not receive any special treatment, and may be washed in hot water and dried in a hot dryer. My mother had several items ruined when she was in the Alzheimer's home. That quilt is beautiful and deserves special treatment.

I'll bet if he had it appraised, he wouldn't want to take it with him. He might want to put it in a safe.{or acid free box].

I stood and watched an aide write on my sisters beautiful quilt in black marker. I just took it down there because she wanted to show it. My jaw dropped.
