My favorite seam ripper is one I paid $1.98 for at Wal Mart. I was going to buy a more expensive one when I went to JoAnn the next time I was in the neighboring town. When I went shopping for groceries in our town at Wal Mart, I decided to see what they had in seam rippers. I found one that had a thin point and a cap to cover it. It works so well for me that I won't be paying more for one anytime soon.

I tried one of those for the same reason. I took it back to JoAnn because it was impossible to use and it made my arthritis hurt more. I hope you have found one that works well for you. I went back to the regular one and just don't use it as long at one time.

And the ripper nose (the pointy thing) is so thick that it has a hard time getting between the stitches. Ugh, I am glad that I used a 50% off coupon for it. Waiting for the next coupon to buy a brand one. Any suggestions? Not a happy camper right now.
I prefer the smallest seam rippers (don't even know if there's a name on them) - but they're cheap (say .99) so I can buy a few at a time and put them in different sewing areas (I have many). Most importantly - I can replace them OFTEN! so they're nice and sharp when I need them to work.

Can't think of any tools that drive me crazy right now....cause I probably gave up trying to use it! Hahaha!

I totally agree with this one. When I ordered it I was so totally pleased that I would finally have a ripper that I would be able to use for quick removal but not so much. Totally disappointed with this product.

I bought the Fons & Porter ripper because it has such a small point to it. I find that the ones that come with the sewing machine are way too big at the point making it difficult ripping out small stitches. I agree that it is a problem with rolling, so like someone suggested, just put a rubber band around the handle.
