Hi all, I sent mine Friday and hopefully they will arrive soon. I came across this free Moda pattern that I thought made a cool modern quilt and could be sized any way, or even adding an arrow. https://tinyurl.com/4w7p5b9u I really liked the colorway that they used but could see it in other colors or mixed for sure. Have a wonderful day all! Hugs!

Exciting times! My first three envelopes arrived:
  1. RebaQuilts
  2. Patrick’s Mom
  3. Janice McC

I wish I had been one of the earlier birthdays so I could have seen how efficiently y’all packaged these! I think the envelopes I’ve been sending were a little too big!

Now I’m just debating on whether I should open them as I get them and start sorting the squares, or if I should wait for my actual birthday.

My actual birthday is the day-before-students arrive, so I’ll be working in my classroom doing last-minute stuff, I’m sure. On the one hand, I might really need a pick-me-up that day. On the other hand, I might not be in the mental state to really enjoy and savor these candies.

Maybe I’ll compromise and open one per day starting on Aug. 1 until I’ve gotten through all of them, having a nice little treat for most of the days of my “birthday MONTH.” Hmm….

Oh, and I actually finished a quilt! This summer has been… not the best, not as productive as I had hoped, but things happened beyond my control. I had in mind to do AaalllLLLLLlll these UFO’s…and I did…ONE!

I’ll show pics when my hubby gets here to help me photograph. He usually acts as my holder!

This is how I do mine. It allows me to savor and appreciate each one. Opening them all at once feels overwhelming to me.

Here we go! I showed a picture of this in progress earlier, but at last it’s finished. This one is a true UFO: I collected the squares in an exchange in 2005, and they sat in a box for years and years. Finally made a huge push to complete some of my oldest projects, and here it is!

And it’s made with 2.5 squares, to boot!

Oh, my wouldn't that make a terrific toddler quilt or Project Linus donation. Any colors and so size adjustable. Thanks Rebaqwuilts for another good idea.

Quossum that is a lovely use of 2.5s. It is "aged" to perfection and boy, doesn't it feel wonderful to have this one off the list. Now how many 2.5's and are you keeping it?

Yes! One done this summer is better than none, right? And my husband said, “Let’s take the one on the bed off and put this one on instead!” LOL Not sure if it will stay there or find a new home, but we’ll enjoy it first!

I have a question for you 2.5"-ers who include HSTs in your quilts. What do you do to get those HSTs in there? Do you cut 3" blocks out of your own stash so they cut down to match your 2.5" squares or does everything get trimmed down to match HSTs made with the 2.5" squares?

I missed the time window to edit my last post, but I also found this nice layout for small squares. https://www.allpeoplequilt.com/quilt...o-many-squares
