Now having expounded all that common sense, I have about 20. LOL
I use 6" square; 6"x24"; 4"x14"; and a 12"x12" square-up. Now think about all the fabric I could have bought.
Oops, rulers/templates (I see the two as interchangable). Doesn't really change much, some shapes may be a little difficult (octogon, curves, etc) but not impossible.

I have 5 but sometimes wish I had better ones for squaring up my blocks; I do a guesswork type squaring - and although using a ruler, it sometimes still does not get it square. I think the blocks have a tendency to move, or stretch on the bias a bit.
