The 1/4" ("bladed") foot is one of my favorite and most used! The walking foot comes in a close second. I recently purchased the stitch in the ditch foot (for my Husqvarna Diamond) and I'm going to like it too.

I use the 1/4 in most of the time. It has been used more than the rest of the feet in my collection combined. Keeps my quarter inch seams very precise. My piecing got so much better after I purchased this foot while participating in a workshop several years ago.

I use my foot with the blade when making HST's. I sew along the edge of the fabric and start with a little scrap to chain piece through them. I don't cut off my little ears until I'm done sewing them. Some quilter's swear by cutting the corner's first, I use them to my advantage and keep my 1/4" foot on.

Lay out quilt sandwich batting on the bottom. Then backing face up, then quilt top face down. I mark an 8-10 inch gap on one side and pin the other three. I stitch from one end of the gap all the way around the quilt to the other end of the gap securing or backstitching at the beginning and the end. Then I turn it right side out with the batting in the middle and the top/backing on the outsides. I then ladder stitch the gap closed. The quilt is the bound on the outsides. This method works well for smaller quilts that will be tied instead of quilted.
