I think that it's called a bone folder. Alot of scrapbookers use them. I like my "purple thing". It has a curve at the pointed end which works good. Have you tried Clotilda catalogue? It has a ton of gagits for sewing.

Is this it? It's called a Point Turner and Presser. I just bought this (package unopened) at an estate sale last week for $1.

You know I don't think that Bone Folder is so far fetched. My husband cleans & dyes carpet. He has an old whale bone (don't know if it's really whale, but that's what it's called) and it's shaped the same way. I'm not quite sure what it's used for, but it is bone.
